2023-2024 School Meal Programs
This letter (10/27/23) was sent to all CUFSD families via School Messenger to begin November 1, 2023
We are pleased to inform you that Chester Union Free School District will be implementing a meal certification option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for the remainder of the 2023-24 school year.
What does this mean for your child(ren) attending the Chester schools?
Beginning November 1, 2023 all students enrolled at Chester Elementary and Chester Academy are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household each day of the 2023-24 school year. No further action is required of you. Your child(ren) will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit an application.
Please note that this change is only for first “complete” meals. Additional breakfasts, lunches or ala cart items will still have to be paid for at the regular menu price.
If you have any further questions, please contact us at (845) 469-9184 x3406

The National Hunger Hotline, 1-866-3-HUNGRY, operated by WhyHunger, is a toll-free phone number available to people in need of food assistance. Families can call the National Hunger Hotline to find summer meal sites in their communities. Click this link, http://www.fns.usda.gov/summerfoodrocks, enter the zip code and zoom out for area locations.Student Meal Account Payments
We are encouraging parents to send funds in as a check or if sending in cash it needs to be placed in an envelope with the following information: Student’s Name, date, pin (Student ID number), deposit amount, cash or check on the outside. Even if your child only buys occasionally it will help expedite the serving line if we receive payment in this manner. All accounts are cash accounts so it is no longer necessary to send a specific amount for breakfast or lunch. You may send in any amount of money and it will be posted to their account for future use. If you are accustomed to sending in the exact amount for each purchase you no longer need to do that.

Enhanced P-EBT Benefits may be distributed as part of the new relief plan – BUT ONLY if they know who is in need.
School meal applications are important. They can help you get P-EBT benefits to purchase food for your family if your child qualifies for free or reduced price meals.
To be considered for this and other benefits please print this form and return it to your child’s school.
